These scans are to assess the thyroid gland, the salivary glands and other soft tissues lumps and masses.

These scans are performed for many reasons including abnormal thyroid hormone tests, masses felt, enlarged thyroid, enlarged salivary glands or pain.

What to expect

The sonographer will discuss the results with you. These results will be with your referrer in 1-2 days.

If urgent the sonographer will arrange for the report to be faxed urgently and may also phone your referrer.
