Trans dermal ultrasound scan. Some warm gel is applied to skin over the region of interest and a probe is used to transmit ultrasound images to the screen for interpretation.

These scans are to assess tendons, ligaments and muscles. Musculoskeletal ultrasound scans are done for many reasons for example post injury, pain, chronic pain.

What to expect

The sonographer will discuss the results with you.

These results will be with your referrer in 1-2 days. If urgent the sonographer will arrange for the report to be faxed urgently and may also phone your referrer.
